Day Two Hundred Fifty One

Dear Readers,
We made it safe and sound.  Here we are in Laughlin, Nevada.  It is hot and it has been an awesome day.  Overall, I am up quite a bit.  Only because I probably used up most of my luck and blessings on our way out here.  I was going a little quick on the way out here, and when I say a “little” quick I mean I was nineteen miles over the speed limit.  We were on a decline and speed was picking up quickly when I spotting a CHP as I was coming around a small bend.  I tried to slow down in time so that he didn’t see the brake lights, but he was ready for me anyways.  I just happened to be the first car of a group of cars and got tagged by the radar gun right away.  He didn’t react very quickly, so there was a glimmer of hope that he didn’t catch me.  No such luck.  He was just delaying the inevitable.  I was prepared to get my first traffic ticket in the last ten years.  I was pretty proud of my clean driving record and I was sure it was going to be ruined.  We were just going through the motions.  I pulled onto the shoulder and rolled down my window.  He walked up and asked for my Drivers License, registration and proof of insurance.  It wasn’t until he looked at my license that we noticed something different, because he then proceeded to ask if I drive for a living.  Noticing my commercial license.  I then proceeded to tell him that having that commercial license was vital to my occupation and  do drive for the city.  He then walked to his vehicle and starting doing something.  Something other than writing up a ticket.  Raina quickly noticed and started to get a little upset of the possibility that I could get out of this ticket.  Then the officer walked back and asked me to step out of the vehicle so that he could talk to me one on one.  He told me he wasn’t going to give me a ticket because he didn’t agree with the law stating that commercial drivers are prohibited from taking traffic school.  Since he didn’t agree with that, he decided to let me off with a warning.  Stating that if it had been any of the other CHP officers in the area to pull me over, than I would not have gotten off so easily.  Which could have been very likely, considering the guy pulled over just ahead of us and the other one that was pulled over as we were talking on the side of the road.  Needless to say, I was so happy to get out of that one.  I know that would have been at least a $500 ticket.  So essentially, I am in the black so far for the weekend.
So after that amazing blessing we had in the morning, it was a wonderful day.  Hanging out at the casino, playing craps and putting down bets on the baseball games.  Both of the baseball teams I picked to win let me down.  The stinking Nationals had Stephen Strasburg starting and he decides that today is going to be the day that he has his worst performance for the year, or at least close to it.  Then there are my Dodgers that are continually letting me down.  Including this must win game they were supposed to win to take a little of the Giant’s lead away.  It was pretty depressing, and then on top of that, I lost money playing craps.  Fortunately, after a wonderful Italian dinner with some friends of ours right here in Bullhead City, I jumped on the craps table again and won my money back.  Well, the money I had lost playing craps.  I am still down the money I bet on the baseball games, so I will have to make that up with college football betting tomorrow.  It’s going to be another busy and hot day tomorrow.  Hopefully the tables are just as hot as the outside air is.  I’m ready to make some money.
